The goal of the USJETAA Japanese Reading Group is to help advanced, beginner and intermediate level learners improve their reading skills. Each month we discuss a short reading from Aozora Bunko, a repository of public domain literature. Participants should attempt to do the reading on their own and come to the meeting with any questions. We gather online and read the assignment sentence by sentence to understand how the Japanese is working.
Afraid you're nihongo isn't good enough? Don't worry- bring your ganbarre spirit and join us!
In May, we'll finish reading and discuss the second half of おもしろい話 (An Interesting Story) by Kuroyanagi Fumi, a short essay about her experience growing up all over Japan and regional accents.
The Japanese Reading Group is meeting on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 8am JT. Not in Japan? See times listed below or find your time zone.
