The goal of the USJETAA Japanese Reading Group is to help advanced, beginner and intermediate level learners improve their reading skills. Each month we discuss a short reading from Aozora Bunko, a repository of public domain literature. Participants should attempt to do the reading on their own and bring questions to the group.
We gather online and read the assignment sentence by sentence to understand how the Japanese is working. Registration is free, but we always appreciate donations to support these types of programs.
You can post questions, discuss the reading, etc. in the USJETAA Japanese Reading Group Facebook Group.
In May, we will read the short piece 日食記 (Account of the Eclipse) by physicist and essayist Nakaya Ukichiro. This writing is about a solar eclipse in Hokkaido in 1943. Click here for the link to this month's reading.
