The goal of the USJETAA Japanese Reading Group is to help advanced beginner and intermediate level students improve their reading skills. Each month we will look at a short reading from Aozora Bunko, a repository of public domain literature, or other online sources. Participants should attempt to do the reading on their own and come to the meeting with any questions. We will spend the meeting each month reading the assignment sentence by sentence to understand how the Japanese is working.
Registration is free, but we always appreciate donations to support these types of programs. Zoom link will be sent upon completing registration.
Post questions, discuss the reading, etc. in our
USJETAA Japanese Reading Group Facebook Group.
In January, we will continue reading the essay we started in December. 一生のお願い (My Lifelong Wish) by writer, poet, and rock-music drummer Takahashi Kumiko, is the story of her family's unique house in Shikoku. Click here for the reading.
We will pick up from the sentence 四国の山間ゆえ先祖達が開拓したときは苦戦したのだろうと思われる。There's still time to catch up! And feel free to join just to listen in if you'd like to!
